Partnership Spotlight

Using Technology to Detect Pneumonia

Project HOPE and Guardit Technologies will be partnering for the "Delivering the Breath of Life" pilot project in the Aceh Barat District of Indonesia. The project will use Guardit´s innovative new technology designed to help detect the onset of pneumonia in children under 5.

Today, pneumonia is the leading killer of infants and young children worldwide, claiming more lives than AIDS, malaria, and measles combined. In order to combat pneumonia, processes for early detection must be in place. In response, Project HOPE and Guardit Technologies will test a "Pneumonia Kit" designed to monitor respiratory rates of children and thus alert parents and doctors when rates become abnormal. Once doctors are notified, they can diagnose the child and take action toward treatment.

Since 1958, Project HOPE has worked to deliver sustainable solutions to health care challenges that affect underserved populations around the world. Partnering with Guardit Technologies provides Project HOPE with a unique opportunity to defeat one of the world´s leading killers using cutting edge technology.

"Guardit is determined and eager in working with Project HOPE in adapting and testing our new technology to address one of the world’s most critical public health issues," says Guardit CEO, Michael Script.
